Clinical trials underway at the Mayo Clinic are revealing an unlikely friend in the fight against cancer… the measles virus.
Scientists have long known that getting sick with the measles can sometimes trigger spontaneous reduction in the size of tumors, but recent clinical trials at the Mayo Clinic have demonstrated just what a powerful weapon the little virus can be.
In a 2014 trial, a concentrated dose of the measles put a late-stage cancer patient into long-term remission.
The terminally ill woman had suffered through every type of chemotherapy available and two stem cell transplants, only to relapse again and again.
She had an advanced case of multiple myeloma, a deadly cancer of the blood spread throughout her body and bone marrow, when researchers offered her a last-ditch resort — a massive dose of the measles.
Within 5 minutes, she got a splitting headache and a fever of 105, followed by vomiting and shaking.
Within 36 hours, a tumor the size of a golf ball on her forehead had disappeared, and within two weeks there was no cancer detectable in her body.
“It’s been the easiest treatment I’ve done by far,” she tells CNN.
The virus strain was engineered and weakened in a lab, and then given in a dose strong enough to vaccinate 10 million people.
Treating cancer with viruses is not new. Mayo Clinic scientists say “virotherapy” has been used successfully on thousands of cancer patients, but this is the first case of a patient with cancer spread throughout her body going into remission.
“I think we succeeded because we pushed the dose higher than others have pushed it,” said lead study author Dr. Stephen Russell. “And I think that is critical. The amount of virus that’s in the bloodstream really is the driver of how much gets into the tumors.”The measles virus makes cancer cells join together and explode, Mayo Clinic researcher Dr. Angela Dispenzieri explains. There’s also evidence that the virus stimulates the immune system, helping it recognize any recurring cancer cells and “mop them up.”
Subsequent clinical trials have shown similar results with ovarian cancer, breast cancer and non-Hodgkins lymphoma, according to a 2016 research paper titled “Measles to the Rescue.” And current trials are looking at the effect of the measles on glioblastoma multiforme, mesothelioma and squamous cell carcinoma.
“We recently have begun to think about the idea of a single shot cure for cancer — and that’s our goal with this therapy,” Russell said.

-- Brush the teeth twice daily, using a soft-bristled toothbrush
-- You can also use battery-operated and electric toothbrushes
-- Hold the toothbrush at a slight angle, toward the area when the tooth meets the gum line, and brush inside and outside the teeth, the chewing surfaces, and the tongue
-- Rinse the toothbrush well and don’t cover it to prevent bacteria buildup
-- Change the toothbrush every 3-4 months
Additionally, remember to regularly floss the teeth. In order to avoid the numerous chemicals found in toothpastes and oral hygiene products, numerous people turn to their natural alternatives.
Here are four natural recipes that will remove plaque and ensure your proper dental health:
Mix 7 tablespoons of coconut oil, the same amount of baking soda, a few drops of your favorite essential oil, and 1 ½ tbsp. of Stevia to make a natural paste, and use it instead of your store-bought toothpaste.
Swish a few tablespoons of coconut oil in the mouth for 15-20 minutes, to remove any bacteria and whiten the teeth.
In a glass of water, add a few drops of each of the following: anise, mint oil, and lemon, and use the mixture to rinse the teeth 4 times daily.
Boil 2 cups of water, add ½ cup rosemary, and 1 cup of fresh mint, and leave it aside for 15 minutes. Then, drain, and rinse the mouth with it, when it is completely cool.
Furthermore, despite proper oral hygiene that involves regular teeth brushing, flossing, and using a mouthwash, as well as regularly visiting the dentist, in order to prevent plaque from wreaking havoc on your mouth, you should also avoid the following foods:
-- Citrus fruits are rich in acid which erodes enamel and makes the teeth prone to decay
-- Potato chips are full of starch, which becomes sugar trapped in and between the teeth and leads to plaque
-- Dried fruits are sticky, and leave a lot of sugar behind
-- Alcohol dehydrates the body, and a dry mouth lacks saliva, which keeps the teeth healthy, so this raises the risk of tooth decay, gum disease, and other oral infections
-- Sour candies, as they contain different kinds of acids that are tough on the teeth, stick to them, and cause decay
-- When chewing bread, the saliva breaks down the starches into sugar, producing a gummy paste-like substance, that sticks to the crevices between teeth and causes cavities
-- Carbonated drinks produce even more acid in the oral cavity, that damages tooth enamel
-- Ice, if chewed, damages enamel and make you prone to dental emergencies

An Open Letter to Legislators Currently Considering Vaccine Legislation from Tetyana Obukhanych, PhD

I am writing this letter in the hope that it will correct several common misperceptions about vaccines in order to help you formulate a fair and balanced understanding that is supported by accepted vaccine theory and new scientific findings.
Do unvaccinated children pose a higher threat to the public than the vaccinated?
It is often stated that those who choose not to vaccinate their children for reasons of conscience endanger the rest of the public, and this is the rationale behind most of the legislation to end vaccine exemptions currently being considered by federal and state legislators country-wide.
You should be aware that the nature of protection afforded by many modern vaccines – and that includes most of the vaccines recommended by the CDC for children – is not consistent with such a statement.

The revelation that Johnson & Johnson knew for decades that its baby powder contained asbestos has opened the door for local law firms to take on the multinational pharmaceutical giant for any Australian victims who may have been exposed to the toxic mineral.
News agency Reuters revealed on Saturday that internal reports and other confidential documents showed J&J knew about the presence of small amounts of asbestos in its products from at least 1971.
The evidence surfaced after people who suspected that its talc had caused their cancers hired lawyers experienced in the decades-long deluge of litigation involving workers exposed to asbestos.

When asked about the potential risks faced by Australian consumers and whether the ingredients used in the Australian product was the same as its US-equivalent, a Johnson & Johnson Australia spokeswoman would not respond.
Instead, she referred the Herald to a generic statement – which derides the Reuters report – provided by its parent company and referred questions to its US head office.
Theodora Ahilas, the national head of Maurice Blackburn’s asbestos practice, said the development opened the door for the firm to further investigate the possible source of asbestos exposure in Australia.
“These reports regarding asbestos in baby powder are deeply concerning,” Ms Ahilas said.
“There is no safe amount of exposure to asbestos, and when we’re talking about a product that’s used on babies, we need to be extra vigilant.”
Some other Australia law firms are also considering whether to pursue the matter.

More than 11,000 plaintiffs have been identified by US lawyers to be potentially impacted by the presence of asbestos in their baby powder – including thousands of women with ovarian cancer.
Documents that surfaced during the lawsuit also said the company had commissioned and paid for studies of its baby powder productsand hired a ghostwriter to redraft the article that presented the findings in a journal.
News of the cover-up slammed US shares of Johnson & Johnson, causing a fall of 10 per cent on Friday, putting it on track to post their biggest percentage drop in more than 16 years.
The decline in shares erased about $55.7 billion ($US40 billion) from the company's market capitalisation, with investors worrying about the impact of the report as it faces thousands of talc-related lawsuits.
In response to the report, the company said "any suggestion that Johnson & Johnson knew or hid information about the safety of talc is false".
"This is all a calculated attempt to distract from the fact that thousands of independent tests prove our talc does not contain asbestos or cause cancer," Ernie Knewitz, Johnson & Johnson's vice president of global media relations, wrote in an emailed response.
"The Reuters article is one-sided, false and inflammatory. Johnson & Johnson’s baby powder is safe and asbestos-free."

In 2011, an earthquake caused a tsunami that killed nearly 16,000 people in Japan and caused an estimated 210 billion dollars in damage, making it one of the costliest natural disasters in history.
The radiation levels at Japan’s crippled Fukushima nuclear power plant are now (February 8th 2017) at “unimaginable” levels.
